چکیده

Surgical treatment is often accompanied by such complication as bleeding, and ophthalmic surgery not an exception. The bleeding risk depends on many factors, the most significant are age, arterial hypertension, hepatic renal impairment, prior stroke or with oral anticoagulants. aim. To evaluate structure of patients taking novel anticoagulants (NOACs) assessment activated partial thromboplastin time before ophthalmosurgical treatment. Materials methods . 54 were included in study. A retrospective analysis medical histories who had for ocular pathology was carried out. divided into two groups: group 1 – 28 whose (APTT) did exceed 45 seconds; 2 26 APTT more than seconds. criterion numerical expression safety performing regional anesthesia against background anticoagulant drugs. Statistical processing performed using Mann Whitney test (p < 0.05). Results. comparative results showed that higher rates APTT. At same time, they less likely to have acute cerebrovascular accident (11.5 % compared 21 2) myocardial infarction (19 %, respectively). Among all patients, women slightly older prevailed. Conclusion. Patients atrial fibrillation make up majority undergoing NOACs. method phacoemulsification intraocular lens implantation. Management of acute stroke in patients taking novel oral anticoagulants

Each year, 1·0-2·0% of individuals with atrial fibrillation and 0·1-0·2% of those with venous thromboembolism who are receiving one of the novel oral anticoagulants (dabigatran, rivaroxaban, or apixaban) can be expected to experience an acute ischemic stroke. Additionally, 0·2-0·5% of individuals with atrial fibrillation who are receiving one of the novel oral anticoagulants can be expected to ...

Peri-procedural management of patients taking oral anticoagulants.

The use of oral anticoagulants is becoming increasingly common. For many years warfarin was the main oral anticoagulant available, but therapeutic options have expanded with the introduction of oral direct thrombin (dabigatran) and factor Xa inhibitors (apixaban, rivaroxaban, and edoxaban). Management of patients taking any oral anticoagulant in the peri-procedural period poses a challenge to m...

Dental management of patients taking novel oral anticoagulants (NOAs): Dabigatran

BACKGROUND A new group of oral anticoagulants (dabigatran, rivaroxaban, apixaban and edoxaban) with clear advantages over classic dicoumarin oral anticoagulants (warfarin and acenocoumarol) has been developed in recent years. Patients being treated with oral anticoagulants are at higher risk for bleeding when undergoing dental treatments. MATERIAL AND METHODS A literature search was conducted...

Gastrointestinal endoscopy in patients taking novel oral anticoagulants.

JA In the United States, warfarin was the primary anticoagulant used in the past. Although it is effective at lowering the risk of stroke and systemic blood clots, it is unpredictable in its pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, is affected by dietary vitamin K, and suffers from numerous drug-drug interactions, thus requiring frequent monitoring, which is costly and a nuisance for patients. Th...

Peri-operative management of ophthalmic patients taking antithrombotic therapy.

Increasing number of patients presenting for ophthalmic surgery are using oral anti-coagulant and anti-platelet therapy. The current practice of discontinuing these drugs preoperatively because of a presumed increased risk of bleeding may not be evidence-based and could pose a significant risk to the patient's health. To provide an evidence-based review on the peri-operative management of ophth...
